This is not a clinical audiogram

This tool estimates the highest sine-wave frequency you report hearing through your current browser and playback setup. It cannot measure clinical hearing thresholds in dB HL, and it does not replace an evaluation by a qualified hearing professional.

Never turn the volume up to chase a high frequency. If a tone is no longer audible at the level used for the 1 kHz reference, record that response and move on.

Why test each ear separately?

Separate left and right trials can reveal a result that is worth repeating, but a difference can also come from earbud fit, driver matching, channel routing or room position. A large repeatable difference—especially with other symptoms—is a reason to seek professional advice, not a diagnosis from this page.

What the reliability score means

The score summarizes test conditions and internal consistency: device type, quiet-environment confirmation, channel verification, silent control responses, replay count and left/right agreement. It does not convert an informal browser test into a calibrated medical test.

Before you begin

  1. Lower your device volume before playing a tone.
  2. Start with a quiet, comfortable level.
  3. Never raise the volume to force yourself to hear a frequency.
  4. Stop immediately if the sound feels uncomfortable.
